Blue Lace Agate is a rare variety of banded Chalcedony, that can be identified by its alternating layers of crystalline quartz & Chalcedony/Agate. It was discovered in 1967 on a farm in Southern Namibia (called South West Africa at the time), at a deposit that is estimated to be at least 54 million years old. Blue Lace Agate has also been found in Brazil, China, India, & the United States.
