Smithsonite, also known as Zinc Spar, is a zinc carbonate mineral that forms in the oxidation zones of zinc ore deposits. It comes in a variety of shades. Its ocean-blue colouring comes from Copper, the soft pink-purple comes from trace elements such as Manganese (pink) & Cobalt (lavender or violet hues) & its vibrant sunny yellow comes from Iron or Cadmium.
