Afghan Sodalite is likely a variety of Sodalite Syenite that displays a rich royal blue colouring & unique light-reactive properties. Some sources suggest this vivid blue stone may instead be Apatite, Lazurite, or Afghanite, or better classified as Hackmanite, as these minerals can occur together in the same environments. Regardless of classification, this striking gem is well known for its bright orange glow under UV light, revealing hidden layers not visible to the naked eye. Some pieces also contain pink–purple Hackmanite or sparkling Pyrite, which appear as subtle metallic flecks throughout the stone. This gem is mainly sourced from Badakhshan in Afghanistan.
